Handira is the Moroccan name for what is commonly referred to as a Wedding Blanket. It is a traditional and symbolic textile worn by berber women when they get married. Handira can be used as a bedcover or as beautiful wall hanging. Over the years there can be rust that occurs from the metal sequins on these vintage blankets. Place of Origin: Handcrafted in Morocco Material: Wool + Cotton + Sequins Dimensions: 6’6″ x 3’9″ PLEASE NOTE: Please note these are handmade Vintage textiles and all vintage items have a unique history and character, so some may have slight wear and imperfections in weaving, pattern, or shape. We do try to have all rugs repaired before shipping, but keep in mind some imperfections preserve the character and integrity of the piece.

Marrakesh- Each piece that I hand select during my sourcing trips reminds me of a feeling or a place. This piece reminded me of the Pink and Peach walls that are found in Marrakesh. The color tones change back and forth depending on the the time of the day and how the sun hits the wall and I find the same happens in this thick and plush Boujaad runner.

Atlas- Each piece that I hand select during my sourcing trips reminds me of a feeling or a place. This low pile vintage boujaad piece reminded me of traveling through the Atlas mountains of Morocco. The color tones in this rug are a mix between dark browns and black reminding me how the mountains change through each region.

Handwoven Hanbel Rug- On Hold
Each of these beautiful pieces are found and hand select by me during my sourcing trips throughout Morocco. This newly made piece was designed by Afous Ghoufous, or hand in hand Cooperative a village outside of the city of Ouarzazate in southern Morocco. I began working with the ladies here at the cooperative in early 2019 after a sourcing trip to Ouarzazate. All proceeds from purchases go directly to the weaver and the group fund in order to build more space and programs for other women to work. In this region, they use natural wool and dyes from Turmeric and pomegranate skin to create beautiful shades of yellow. Also, onion or hibiscus to create the shades of pinks and reds to Pine used to create the shades of brown

How to stuff: Product is shipped unstuffed. Can be stuffed using an economical way by using old clothing or bedding material such as comforters and blankets. For a firmer support, a foam insert can be used. We use TWO memory foam pillows to create a firm top and a comforter.
