Handira is the Moroccan name for what is commonly referred to as a Wedding Blanket. It is a traditional and symbolic textile worn by Berber women when they get married. Wedding Blankets can be used as a bed-cover or as beautiful wall hanging.

Handira is the Moroccan name for what is commonly referred to as a Wedding Blanket. It is a traditional and symbolic textile worn by berber women when they get married. Handira can be used as a bedcover or as beautiful wall hanging. Over the years there can be rust that occurs from the metal sequins on these vintage blankets.

Each of these beautiful pieces are found and hand select by me during my sourcing trips throughout Morocco. This newly made Beni Ourain Rug is Handwoven from pure undyed Wool by women in the villages of the Middle Atlas Mountain Region in Moroccan. Beni Ourain rug densely hand-knotted with a background in natural ivory and in a traditional diamond patterned design.

Imsaal- Meaning Unique, one of a kind and that is what makes each Moroccan piece special. With the uniqueness of each piece that I hand select during my sourcing trips it reminds me just how creative and talented each of the artisans truly are. This vintage piece name fits as it is truly one of a kind and will fit perfect in a living room, dining room or pretty much anywhere in the house. The woman who made this pieces has weaved woman figures and other knotted symbols of protection (evil eye) throughout this perfectly faded red piece.

This beautiful piece is a newly made custom rug by women artisan partners and weavers in Morocco. This modern piece is from the region call Taznakht in southern Morocco an area that I visit often because of the beautiful desert and stillness that reminds you of home that this region brings.

Handwoven Hanbel Rug- Custom Order
Each of these beautiful pieces are found and hand select by me during my sourcing trips throughout Morocco. This newly made piece was designed by Afous Ghoufous, or hand in hand Cooperative a village outside of the city of Ouarzazate in southern Morocco. I began working with the ladies here at the cooperative in early 2019 after a sourcing trip to Ouarzazate. All proceeds from purchases go directly to the weaver and the group fund in order to build more space and programs for other women to work. In this region, they use natural wool and dyes from Turmeric and pomegranate skin to create beautiful shades of yellow. Also, onion or hibiscus to create the shades of pinks and reds to Pine used to create the shades of brown
